Areas of Expertise Iraq, Israel/Occupied Territories, Jordan, Lebanon, relations between the West and the Muslim world, Syria and U.S. foreign policy.
Dr. Sullivan has had personal conversations with some of the most prominent leaders of the contemporary Islamic revival. Dr. Sullivan's scholarship in Arab and Islam stuides is internationally recognized. He serves as Senior Fellow at the Fund for American Studies (Washington, D.C.), and also as Faculty director of the International Institute for Political and Economic Studies (IIPES) which is held annually in Greece for students from the eastern Mediterranean area. IIPES is sponsored by the Fund for American Studies and is accredited by Georgetown University. Dr. Sullivan lived in the Middle East for many years and travels frequently to the region. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
