Dr. Norton has written numerous books and articles on civil society, Islam and politics and Muslim political movements, such as Hizballah and Amal. He is also a distinguished lecturer and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He directed the Civil Society in the Middle East program for the Ford Foundation. Dr. Norton holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago.
