Patrick Lang is currently the Director of the Harry F. Guggenheim Foundation. He was a career officer of the U.S. Army and a member of the army's specialist program for the Middle East and North Africa. He is fluent in Arabic and French, and was professor of Arabic at West Point. Colonel Lang served as the most senior officer of the Department of Defense for the Middle East and South Asia. After retiring from the army he served in the senior executive service of the Department of Defense. He was awarded the presidential rank of distinguished executive.
