Dr. Damis has been teaching at Portland State University since 1971. He is a former foreign affairs analyist and consultant for the Department of State (1975-1984). He served for two years as a United Nations consultant (MINURSO, 1993-1994). He is the author of numerous books, articles and chapters on the politics and international relations of North Africa, including the Freedom House 2006 Report on Morocco. Dr. Damis holds both an A.B. and A.M. from Harvard, and a Ph.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
