Dr. Ben-Meir teaches courses on international relations, terrorism, the Arab-Israeli conflict, Islam and ethnic conflicts. He is also the Middle East Project director at the World Policy Institute and syndicated columnist with UPI. He began his career as a journalist. He has lectured extensively at many universities and traveled to many parts of the world speaking before large groups and organizations. He has authored numerous books, among them The Middle East: Imperative and Choices, In Defiance of Time and Framework for Arab-Israeli Peace. He holds a Ph.D. in international relations from Oxford University.
