Dr. Pubantz teaches at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Dr. Pubantz served as National Education Consultant to the Middle East Policy Council and directed the Council's Teacher Workshops on the Arab World and Islam. His writings include works on the Middle East, the United Nations, international civil society and democratization, U.S.-Russian Relations, and American Foreign Policy. He is the co-editor of the Encyclopedia of the United Nations, and the co-author of The New United Nations: International Organization in the 21st Century and of To Create a New World? American Presidents and the United Nations, honored with CHOICE Magazine's Outstanding Academic Title Award for 2000 by the American Library Association. He is the author of many book chapters in history, political science, and sociology. His articles have appeared in Social Forces, Alternatives: The Turkish Journal of International Relations, Arabies Trends, Politics and Policy, and the International Journal of the Humanities. He is a former president of the North Carolina Political Science Association, the co-founder of the Southern Association of Pre-law Advisers, and the former president of the National Collegiate Conference Association, corporate sponsor of the National Model United Nations in New York City. He has lectured at universities and colleges, and appeared on radio and television across the nation and internationally, including Radio Canada International and Sahar TV in Iran. He holds a Ph.D. from Duke University.
