Syria
Dr. Lesch has been very active in creating and organizing public outreach activities on Middle East topics. He is the author of Syria and the United States: Eisenhower's Cold War in the Middle East (1992) and The Middle East and the United States: Historical and Political Reassessment (1996). In 1990, he received his Ph.D. in history and Middle Eastern studies from Harvard University.
