    The Middle East Policy Council is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational organization founded in 1981 to provide policymakers and the public with credible, comprehensive information and analysis on political, economic, and cultural issues pertaining to U.S.-Middle East.

Middle East Policy Council executive director Thomas Mattair, author of Global Security Watch: Iran – a Reference Handbook, recently participated in a panel on U.S.-Iranian Relations at the Arab-U.S. Policymakers Conference. Panelists discussed Iran’s regional influence and proxies, sanctions, and the future of U.S.-Iranian relations.

Dr. Mattair was joined on this panel by Flynt Leverett (New America Foundation), Trita Parsi (National Iranian American Council), Thomas Delare (Department of State), Kenneth Katzman (Congressional Research Service) and John Iskander (Foreign Service Institute). It took place on October 21st, 2010.
