Areas of Expertise Military
Professor Cordesman is a military analyst for ABC and holds the Arleigh A. Burke Chair in Strategy at CSIS. He has served in senior positions in the office of the Secretary of Defense, the State Department, the Department of Energy, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. He has written extensively on security developments in North Africa, the Arab-Israeli states and the Gulf. He has also written and lectured on Middle East politics, energy developments, demographics and economics. Dr. Cordesman is the author of a five-volume net assessment of the Gulf. His most recent books include A tragedy of arms: Military and security developments in the Maghreb, Peace and war: The Arab-Israeli military balance enters the 21st century and Iraq's military capabilities in 2002: A net assessment.
