Ambassador Dunford retired from the U.S. Foreign Service following completion of his assignment as ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman in June 1995. His previous assignments were as deputy ambassador in Riyadh, director of Egyptian affairs in Washington and head of the economic section in Cairo. He was the coordinator of the Transition Team for the establishment of the Bank for Economic Cooperation and Development in the Middle East and North Africa (MENABANK) from 1997-1998. From 1998-2000, he was a visiting faculty member at the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). In the Spring of 2003, he was in Baghdad as Senior Ministerial Liaison to Iraq's Foreign Ministry working for the Coalition Provisional Authority. He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Arizona.
